Honderduizenden mensen in Kathmandu en andere delen van het land hebben de afgelopen nacht in de open lucht doorgebracht. Ondanks de af en toe zware regenbuien durven ze vanwege de vele zware naschokken niet in huis door te brengen. Soms schuilend onder een stukje plastic, soms met helemaal niets tegen de regen.
De hulp van buitenaf begint op gang te komen. Ook vanuit Nederland is er een speciaal team met honden gearriveerd om mensen onder het puin op te sporen. Inmiddels staat de teller van het aantal slachtoffers al op ruim 3200 en worden er nog heel veel mensen vermist. Met name uit de buitengebieden is nog niet veel bekend.
Een bericht wil ik u niet onthouden vanuit één van de dorpen: "We hebben ons dorp verlaten want het hele dorp schuift langzaam richting afgrond. We durven er niet meer te blijven."
In Kathmandu staan evengoed toch nog vrij veel gebouwen overeind, maar bijna allemaal vol scheuren.

Van de organisatie '40 days of global prayer for Nepal' kwam ik het volgende bericht tegen:
"Situation is so devastating that destruction and damages caused are almost conceivable. As confirmed by the government media it was 7.6 richter scale earthquake that hit Central North Nepal, Gorkha District.
Barpak village was reported to be the epicentre, Majority of hosues in Barpak and hundreds others in surrounding villages are collapsed. It is reported as confirmed by government media that over 1500 dead across the country, many thousands are casualties.
It is estimated more than 5000 dead, but full information yet to be received. Over 90 times post shuck tremours experienced. While writing this update two more additional shaking took place equivalent of over 5 richter scale just this morning (26/4/2015) alone.
Last night almost all the people across Nepal stayed outside their houses in the open grounds. Many are still awaiting to be rescued, many dead bodies are still under the rubble.
It is reported in one of the churches in North East of Kathmandu city, place called, Kapan, believers are killed while worshiping in the church in Saturday weekly church service, but news still to be confirmed.
International airport seems to be running ok, internet, telephone, mobile is running ok. Almost all the hospitals are full. In the districts there seems to be not enough medicines and equipments.
Most of the damages have been caused in the rural villages where majority of houses are collapsed and many buried down in the ground, but difficult for a quick access for rescue.
